DESCRIPTION

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at UC Santa Barbara invites applications for possible temporary Lecturer positions (part-time or full-time) beginning Winter 2019 through Fall 2019 including summer, should vacancies appear. Appointments will vary in percentage of time and will range from one quarter to one year, and from one course up to a maximum of eight courses a year, with the limited possibility of reappointment dependent on performance, departmental needs and funding.

Applicants must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree, in an appropriate field, and have one year of language teaching experience in a college or university. Native-level proficiency in German is required. Applicants should submit cover letter, CV and contact information for 3 references. Teaching evaluations are optional (and will be required for finalists).

The Program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research teaching and service. Lecturers are not expected to engage in research, but staying up to date in research about second language acquisition is welcome. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
