Description

The Materials Department in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking applications to fill an open level faculty position opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor position in the areas listed below.

Candidates are expected to lead a cutting-edge, world-class experimental research program in the development, application, and/or materials physics of hard condensed matter. We particularly encourage applications in one or more of the following areas: bulk crystal or thin film growth of new semiconducting, electronic, photonic, quantum, or topological materials; innovative characterization and/or measurement techniques, especially of novel physical phenomena; and new devices and/or technologies utilizing these materials. The candidate should demonstrate potential for collaborative research with the broader Materials community at UCSB, which has a longstanding reputation for collaborative research in advanced materials.

Appointment would be effective July 1, 2020 or later. At a minimum, applicants are expected to have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field, at the time of application. Additionally, applicants must hold a Ph.D or equivalent in Material Science, Physics, or a related field by the time of appointment.

Full Professor
