Position description

The Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara is continuing a period of strategic growth, with plans for new faculty positions that will add to core strengths, explore new and emerging areas of the field, and leverage opportunities across disciplinary boundaries. Towards this goal, the department invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions, for the 2020-2021 academic year, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020. For primary consideration apply by December 5, 2019; however, positions will remain open until filled.

We are looking for individuals from areas of Computer Science and Computer Engineering who have a track record of research excellence, a passion to shape the future of the field, and the potential to become an outstanding leader in research and education. Candidates with expertise in innovative computing systems including new computer architectures and designs, distributed computing systems, and dependable and secure computing systems are particularly encouraged to apply. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service.

The Department of Computer Science is part of the highly ranked College of Engineering, which includes among its faculty three Nobel laureates and 29 members of the National Academy of Engineering. PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field at the time of application is preferred. At the minimum in order to be considered, applicants should have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field, except the dissertation (or equivalent) at the time of application. PhD degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
