Position description

The Social Perception Lab at University of California, Santa Barbara, directed by Dr. Kyle Ratner, is seeking applications for an open, full-time Junior Specialist position with an anticipated start date of February 1, 2020. This will be one year position with a comprehensive benefits package and with the possibility of renewal. Continuation beyond one year will be based on performance and availability of funding. The salary is based on UCSB’s salary scales.

DUTIES
Engage in specialized research in social psychology and social neuroscience. Responsibilities will include: collecting and analyzing data from behavioral, fMRI, and EEG research studies, contributing to administrative tasks of the lab, such as managing IRB protocols and reviews as well as ordering and maintaining lab supplies to assure all research projects are executed properly. The successful candidate will also assist the PI with training of undergraduate research assistants.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field is required at the time of application.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
At least one-year of previous research experience in social psychology and/or cognitive neuroscience in a laboratory setting (e.g., as an undergraduate researcher). Coursework in at least three of the following areas: statistics, social psychology, cognitive psychology, biopsychology, and psychopathology/abnormal psychology, as evidenced by undergraduate transcript(s).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with computer programming (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python).
