Junior Specialist position in the Neuroscience Research Institute
Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2020
Salary: Based on UCSB Specialist series salary table

Position Description:
The Goard lab is seeking a part-time (65%) Junior Specialist interested in using cutting edge optical and physiological techniques to probe sensory processing and cognitive function. Although there will be some lab management duties (ordering, rodent care), this position will primarily be an opportunity to carry out a supervised research project and gain hands-on laboratory experience. Specific duties include: 2-photon calcium imaging, optogenetic perturbations, survival surgery, quantitative analysis of imaging data.

Basic qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. (or equivalent) in neuroscience or related field completed prior to start date of appointment.

Preferred qualifications:
Programming experience (particularly Matlab) preferred but not necessary. A keen interest in learning more about the neuroscience.

Initial appointment is for one year, part-time (65%) with benefits. Continuation beyond one year will be based on performance and availability of funding.
