Position description

The Department of Earth Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary Lecturers (part-time appointments) to teach courses in Earth Science in the following areas: Earth Systems, Biogeology, Geochemistry, Geology, Geophysics and Paleobiology. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department.

Applicants must possess an M.S. in Earth Science in one or more of the substantive areas above by the time of application. PhD Preferred. Applicants must also have at least one year of teaching experience and have an emphasis in one or more of the substantive areas above. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.

Appointments will be made on a quarter-to-quarter basis. Reappointment for subsequent quarters is dependent on performance and departmental needs.
