Apply by January 8, 2021 for primary consideration.

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at UC Santa Barbara invites applications for possible temporary Lecturer positions (part-time or full-time) beginning Winter 2021 through Fall 2021 including summer, should vacancies appear. Appointments will vary in the percentage of time and will range from one quarter to one year, and from one course up to a maximum of eight courses a year, with the limited possibility of reappointment dependent on performance, departmental needs, and funding.

Applicants must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree, in an appropriate field, and have a minimum of two years of language teaching experience in a college or university. Native-level proficiency in German is required. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, teaching statement, teaching evaluations, and contact information for 3 references.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values at UC Santa Barbara. Our excellence relies on faculty, students, and staff who share our commitment to these values. Our program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching and service. Lecturers are not expected to engage in research, but staying up to date in research about second language acquisition is welcome. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The use of a lecturer pool does not guarantee that an open position exists at the time you are applying. If there is no future review date specified, your application may not be considered at this time. All application materials must be submitted online via UC Recruit at https://recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/JPF01899
