Position description

The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies, University of California Santa Barbara, invites applications for our part-time lecturer pool. Positions are open until filled, contingent on availability of funding and enrollment. We accept applications for all areas of our curriculum. The posting will remain open until October 31, 2021 to accommodate department needs. If you would like to continue to be considered after that time, and the pooled position is advertised again, you will need to submit a new application. Please note: The use of a lecturer pool does not guarantee that an open position exists at the time you are applying. The Department seeks applicants for openings in the Academic Year.

Applicants should have a PhD, or EdD, or MFA, or JD in process or in-hand to apply.

At the time of application:
For PhD and EdD applicants: Must have completed all requirements for the PhD and EdD except the dissertation at time of application.
For MFA applicants: Must have completed all requirements for MFA except the thesis at time of application.
For JD applicants: Must have completed all requirements for JD except the final year of coursework at time of application.

Applicants should have the terminal degree (Ph.D, Ed.D., J.D. or M.F.A.) in Chicana/o Studies or related field by the time of the appointment.

Preference will be given to applicants with degrees in Chicana/o Studies and/or a record of teaching in Chicana/o Studies or related field. Salary will be based on qualifications. Application review will begin as needs arise in order to staff available courses.

Applicants must submit a Cover Letter, Curriculum Vita, Statement of Teaching, Relevant teaching evaluations, and names of three references.
