Assistant Project Scientist position in the Neuroscience Research Institute

Salary: Based on UCSB Project Scientist series salary table

Position Description:
A position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth Kosik to conduct research analyzing organoid physiology using the Maxwell High density CMOS system. This will involve preparing organoids, recording from them and analyzing the data. The data analysis will require some software development. The appointee will also contribute to upgrading and maintaining the instrumentation. The appointee will be expected to make significant, original, and creative contributions to the research project, collaborate with other team members, and publish research.

Basic qualifications:
A doctoral degree in physics or related field is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of post doctoral experience in neurobiology research.

Preferred qualifications:
A very solid research and publication record at the pre- and postdoctoral level. Experience with programming, neurocomputation, organoids, and electrophysiologic recordings.

Initial appointment is for one year, full time with benefits with the intention to extend the appointment beyond this period based on performance and availability of funding.
