Position description

The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for an Assistant Project Scientist position. The Montell lab at the University of California is seeking an experienced cell and developmental biologist to carry out both independent and collaborative research projects to study the effects of epithelial polarity proteins on 3D cell morphology & migration in Drosophila and using mammalian organoids.

A broad range of knowledge in genetics, cell biology and developmental biology is necessary for the research projects. The individual will play a significant part of the cell migration research team using live imaging and photo manipulation techniques to decipher the molecular mechanisms of motility.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology at the time of application

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

At least 5 years of postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment

Preferred qualifications

Successfully completed a postdoctoral fellowship. An ideal candidate for this position must have outstanding communication skills, have experience in mentoring Drosophila genetics lab, have experience in microscopy best practices and mentoring undergraduate research interns.
