Position description

The Physics Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is seeking an Assistant Project Scientist to pursue innovative research in collaboration with Professor David Weld. The successful candidate will be involved in the design and operation of cutting-edge experiments in quantum dynamics using ultracold quantum gases, and will lead a small team of graduate students. The position will primarily be lab-based.

The appointment is for 2 years. There is a possibility of extensions contingent on performance and continued funding. Questions about this position should be directed to the Department using the help contact email address below.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

PhD in physics, optics, or a closely related field by the application date

Preferred qualifications

Experience with experimental ultracold atomic physics is highly desirable
