Position description
The Physics Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is seeking an outstanding Assistant Project Scientist with a strong research record to pursue innovative research in collaboration with Professor Gary Horowitz. The Assistant Project Scientist will work with the Gravitational Theory Group conducting research in theoretical gravitational physics including work on asymptotic symmetries and conservation laws in general relativity; instabilities of black holes and other solutions of Einstein’s equation; and finding new gravitational solutions.
The initial appointment is for 1 year.
The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
Qualifications
Applicant must have Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field by the application date. Must have at least 5 years of postdoc experience in theoretical gravitational physics.
It is preferable if the applicant has six years of postdoc experience by the start of this position .
