Position description

The Physics Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is seeking an Assistant Project Scientist to pursue innovative research in collaboration with Professor Joseph Hennawi. The successful candidate will be involved in the design and operation of cutting-edge observations with the James Webb Space Telescope and will work with a team of postdocs and graduate students.

The initial appointment is for 2 years. There is a possibility of extensions contingent on performance and continued funding.

The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service.


Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Ph.D. in astronomy or related field at the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidate must have at least 4 years of experience and familiarity with the James Webb Space Telescope observations and data reduction.
