Position description
The Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023. The Department is looking for individuals with particular emphasis in the areas of experimental condensed matter physics, including the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science.
Condensed matter physicists in the Department benefit from cross-disciplinary collaborations and facilities shared with colleagues in the Departments of Materials, and Electrical and Computer Engineering, further enhanced by the California NanoSystems Institute, the Materials Research Laboratory, the Quantum Foundry, the Institute for Terahertz Science and Technology, and the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics. Responsibilities of faculty members generally include the development of an actively funded research program of the highest quality, teaching at undergraduate and/or graduate levels, recruitment, supervision, and mentorship of graduate students, and participation in university service and professional activities. Successful candidates will have a record of collaborative research, and will be able to leverage synergies across the campus. Qualifications
Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation at time of application
PhD in Physics or related field is required by appointment start date.
Research emphasis in the areas of experimental condensed matter physics, including the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science.
