The Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary research Project Scientists positions. Project Scientists positions are given only to those who make significant and creative contributions to a research or creative project. Appointees may be ongoing members of a research team, or may contribute high-level skills to a specific project for a limited time.
This is a pooled recruitment, and appointments are subject to availability of funding and departmental needs, and may be part-time or full-time. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed through October 31, 2023. The pool will close on October 31, 2023; if you would like to continue to be considered after that time, and the pooled position is advertised again, you will need to submit a new application. Please note: The use of a temporary research titles pool does not guarantee that an open position exists at the time you are applying. See the “Next Review Date” specified in UC Recruit to learn whether the department is currently reviewing applications for an upcoming opening. If there is no future review date specified, your application may not be considered at this time.
The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
At the time of application they must possess a Doctorate degree (or equivalent degree) in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field: Bioengineering and Systems Biology; Computational Science and Engineering; Dynamic Systems, Controls, and Robotics; Micro/Nanoscale Systems; Solid Mechanics, Structures, & Materials; Thermofluid Sciences and Fluid Mechanics.
A research record or demonstrate potential in the areas of: Bioengineering and Systems Biology; Computational Science and Engineering; Dynamic Systems, Control and Robotics; Micro and Nanoscale Engineering; Solid Mechanics, Materials and Structures; and Thermalfluid Sciences and Fluid Mechanics, is preferred.
