Assistant Professor/Pre-1975 Spanish literature

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, effective July 1, 2015. We seek a scholar with expertise in Modern and Contemporary Spanish literature before 1975, with a special interest in cinema and cultural studies. Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment.

Evidence of outstanding research (or research potential) and teaching ability at the undergraduate and graduate level are essential. The Department of Spanish and Portuguese has undergraduate and graduate programs with specializations in Spanish and Latin American (Hispanic) Literatures, Portuguese and Brazilian Literatures, and Iberian Linguistics, plus optional graduate emphases on Translation Studies, Feminist Studies, Medieval Studies and Applied Linguistics. Our interdisciplinary campus includes programs in Latin American and Iberian Studies, Chicana and Chicano Studies, Comparative Literature, and Film and Media Studies.
