Position description

The University of California, Santa Barbara Department of Political Science seeks a scholar in international relations with a focus on International Organization and Institutions for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2017. Applicants should have completed the Ph.D. by the appointment date. We seek applicants who focus on the causes, consequences, and dynamics of international institutions, and we are open with respect to methodological or theoretical approach. Although the scholar’s primary contribution will be to the IR subfield, we are particularly interested in applications from those who use innovative methods and/or whose substantive research relates to the Department’s strong interdisciplinary foci in the studies of identity or the environment. The successful candidate must be qualified to teach core graduate seminars in international relations. His or her research should be theoretically informed and must demonstrate mastery of appropriate research methods.

The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
