Position description

The Institute for Energy Efficiency (IEE) is actively seeking Project Scientists in the full, Associate, and Assistant ranks to commit effort on our projects. This is a large, pooled recruitment covering many research disciplines. The use of a pooled recruitment does not guarantee that an open position exists at the time you are applying. Appointments are subject to availability of funding and departmental needs. Positions may range from 0% (without salary) to 100%.

Apply by August 1, 2016 for primary consideration; however, applications will be kept active for consideration within the department until October 31, 2016. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The pool will close on October 31, 2016; if you would like to continue to be considered after that time, and the pooled position is advertised again, you will need to submit a new application.

IEE has many research foci including (but not limited to):
• Engineering, materials, and computer science research
• Photonic devices, materials, networks and systems
• Control and dynamical systems
• Photonic and electronic materials
• Electronic materials and devices
• Nanofluidics and microfluidics
• Chemistry and biochemistry

Appointees to the Project Scientists make significant and creative contributions to a research or creative project. Appointees may be ongoing members of a research team, or may contribute high-level skills to a specific project for a limited time. Demonstrated capacity for fully independent research or research leadership (at the level of the Researcher series) is not required in this series; however, appointees with the Project Scientist title should have broad range of knowledge and competency and be able to operate at a higher level of independence.

Minimum requirements
• Appointees to this series must possess a doctorate or its equivalent at the time of initial appointment.

Additional requirements
• Previous research experience in applicable or relevant field

Desirable requirements
• Mentorship/supervision of junior researchers and students.
