Temporary Part Time Lecturer in Music Composition

The University of California Santa Barbara, College of Creative Studies (CCS), seeks a composer/scenic designer to be appointed as a temporary part-time lecturer at 33% time to teach during the winter quarter of 2017. This is a non-renewing, non-tenure track, non-ladder position, one-quarter appointment with the possibility of reappointment in future academic years depending upon performance and programmatic needs. Basic qualifications: Masters in Music Composition. At least 2 years of teaching experience in a higher education setting.

Additional qualifications: The successful candidate will be a practicing composer acquainted with modern techniques in sound installation and sound reinforcement, together with video applications in the theater. The successful candidate will be a veteran already of several theatrical presentations and skilled in all aspects of producing a pre-existent property in opera or musical theater. As this presentation will be both live and on television, experience in scenic design for broadcast television, not simply video, is an absolute prerequisite.
