Lecturer: Spanish and Portuguese
December 13, 2017 through October 31, 2018
Primary consideration date two weeks from UC Recruit posting; thereafter open until filled.
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UC Santa Barbara invites applications for possible temporary Lecturer positions (part-time or full-time) beginning Winter 2018 through Fall 2018 including summer, should vacancies appear. Appointments will vary in percentage of time and will range from one quarter to one year, and from one course up to a maximum of eight courses a year, with the limited possibility of reappointment dependent on performance, departmental needs and funding.
Applicants should possess a minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree in Hispanic or Lusophone Studies, Hispanic, Lusophone or Applied Linguistics, or a similar field, and two years of language teaching experience in a college or university. Experience teaching upper division courses and/or Spanish for Heritage Speakers preferable. Native-level proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is required. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, and arrange for three letters of recommendation (at least one letter should comment on the applicant’s teaching performance, preferably from a supervisor). Teaching evaluations are optional (and will be required for finalists).
The Program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. The use of a lecturer pool does not guarantee that an open position exists at the time you are applying. See the review date specified in UC Recruit to learn if the department is currently reviewing applications for an upcoming position. If there is no future review date specified, your application may not be considered at this time. All application materials, must be submitted online via UC Recruit at: https://recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/apply/JPF01175
