Position description

The Department of Economics at UC Santa Barbara invites applications for the Wilcox Family Chair in Entrepreneurial Economics at the Associate or Full Professor level with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019. This Chair was established to promote excellence in research in UC Santa Barbara’s Economics Department and to foster connections between the Department of Economics and the Technology Management Program in order to support UC Santa Barbara’s existing or future entrepreneurship programs. Preference will be given to individuals with corporate experience, business start-up experience, or a demonstrated interest in supporting entrepreneurship. It is expected that the chair holder will devote about half of his or her instructional efforts to teaching that supports student entrepreneurship.

Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in economics or a related field by the time of application, with preference for candidates who currently hold the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated research program that that advances the study of economics, and a record of teaching and mentoring.
