  2. Developing and managing PHCOE event programming across the 10 UCs
  3. Developing and coordinating on events with UCGHI.
  4. Organizing and managing grant and developing fundraising opportunities in coordination with UCGHI.
  5. Developing and managing outreach to partner institutions such as EAP, the Blum Center, and PHCOE core partners across the 10 UCs
  6. Recruiting new UC and non-UC partners, and furthering relationships with existing partners.
  7. Developing and managing PHCOE core projects
  8. Serving as a liaison with UCGHI core staff.
  9. Liaising and leading PHCOE staff at other UCs.
  10. Serving as a liaison between the UCSB Office of Research and ISBER for budget development, reports, and research development.

The Academic Coordinator will work with UCGHI and PHCOE partners at all UCs as a PHCOE Deputy Director for Outreach, Fundraising and Research Coordinator. A core project of the Academic Coordinator will be the development and management of public programming across the 10 UCs, which includes an annual multi-campus webinar and conference -- the Healthy and Equitable World Workshop -- as well as a year-round program of special fundraising and outreach events. Tasks include the development, planning and logistical arrangements for events, finding and working with co-sponsors, recruiting and communicating with invited speakers, working with venue managers and caterers, and collecting receipts and invoices for payment processing in conjunction with OR and Center staff. Fundraising and Outreach events will be at UCSB and other UC campuses and range from student short film and research poster competitions, to multi-campus scavenger hunts, to lecture series and film screenings.

The Academic Coordinator will also develop, maintain and manage several core PHCOE projects, including, but not limited to a database on Global Health faculty and activities at each UC, a research partnership with the Women’s Health, Gender and Empowerment Center, and outreach partnership with the Blum Center and others, research grant development, planning, implementation and organization with PHCOE partners, and a fundraising and grants opportunities database for PHCOE affiliates.

The Academic Coordinator will lead the PHCOE student ambassador program. The Academic Coordinator will recruit, train, manage and provide professional development training to 30-35 PHCOE student ambassadors from across the 10 UCs (2-5 ambassadors per campus). The Academic Coordinator will recruit speakers as part of the professional development training and delegate and manage the work of other PHCOE staff and interns involved in the ambassador program. The Academic Coordinator will also recruit, train, manage and provide professional development training to 2-5 interns at UCSB.

The Academic Coordinator will be supervised by the UCSB Co-Director of the PHCOE, but being able to work independently and achieve goals with minimal supervision is expected.

Required: PhD in a Social Science or a related field.
Preferred: Experience organizing events, building databases, writing grants, mentoring undergraduates and managing multi-site projects. Familiarity with a university setting.

Initial appointment is for 3 months (beginning approximately May 1st, 2019) at 50%, with a partial benefit package. Continuation beyond three months will be based on performance and availability of funding. The salary is based on UCSB’s salary scales and dependent upon qualifications.
