Position description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for temporary research positions (Specialist). Appointments are subject to availability of funding and departmental needs. Temporary research positions may vary from part-time to full-time and may range from short term to long term. Apply by January 31, 2020 for primary consideration; however, applications will be kept active for consideration within the department through October 31, 2020. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies depending on the needs of the department. Applicants must resubmit a new application letter each year beginning November 1 to retain eligibility.

Appointees to the Specialist series engage in specialized research, professional activity, and University and/or public service. Specialists use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise of the University and to achieve recognition in the professional and scientific community. Specialists may participate in University and/or public service depending upon funding source and duties of the position.

[full] Specialists normally provide considerable independent input into the planning and execution of the research, have a significant record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published research in the field, and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.

Basic qualifications include applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation at the time of application.

Additional qualifications include PhD by time of appointment.

Desired qualifications include an outstanding research record or demonstrated independent research in the areas of: Computer Engineering, Communications, Control & Signal Processing, or Electronics and Photonics.
