Position description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara seeks applications for possible part-time Temporary Lecturer positions in all areas of Mechanical Engineering. Main duties may include teaching required lower or upper division ME courses, as well as upper division electives. The ideal candidate should be interested and experienced in teaching in different educational settings - from project-oriented, inquiry-based classes, to larger, more traditional, lecture-oriented classes. A Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required at the time of application; an M.S. and a demonstrated record of teaching excellence is preferred. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

Part-time Temporary Lecturer appointments vary in terms of percentage of time (generally 33% time), and average 1-2 quarters per year, with the possibility of reappointment dependent upon performance and departmental needs. This is a pooled search, and applications will be kept active for consideration for all appropriate vacancies within the department through Winter 2022. Please note that an open search does not guarantee a position is available. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining unit.
