Position title: Unit 18 - Temporary Lecturer
Anticipated start: 2022-2023

Position description

The Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified, part-time, temporary lecturers to teach various courses in Sociocultural Anthropology, Archaeological Anthropology and Biological Anthropology. The number of positions open varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department and may include our ANTH 2 Introductory Cultural Anthropology course of 550 students or ANTH 5 Introductory Biological Anthropology of 400 students.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

-Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Anthropology or closely related field.
-Minimum of 1 quarter demonstrated teaching experience.

Preferred qualifications

-Current PhD.
-Expertise in Sociocultural, Biological, or Archaeological Anthropology with the ability to teach in one or more of these fields of study.
-More than 1 quarter of teaching experience.
-Experience with learning management webpages based on Moodle, such as the Gauchospace platform used at UCSB.
-Experience teaching large (n>100) classes.
-Experience working with Teaching Assistants.
