Salary range: Salary is based on UCSB salary scales. See table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $5,521.58-$6,401.17 monthly. Percent appointments may vary.

Position duration: Appointment is limited to the length of the course (3 weeks)

Position description

Applications are invited for a temporary part-time lecturer position at the University of California, Santa Barbara to teach ED 330, Writing Project Approaches to Teaching Composition, K-College in the Teacher Education Program during Summer 2024. Open until filled.

Instructors are expected to attend all class sessions, read, respond, and evaluate student assignments, and assign grades adhering to all department guidelines. Additionally, instructors are expected to attend all course planning meetings.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Fellow of the South Coast Writing Project (SCWriP) or affiliation with any National Writing Project site or California Subject Matter Project at the time of application.

Preferred qualifications

Varied teaching experience in K-12 settings.

California Teaching Credential.

A strong applicant will also have:

  • Experience with teaching composition in varied settings and in varied ways
  • Experience in presenting professional development to teachers
  • Experience working with new teachers
  • Experience working with diverse learners
  • Experience with SCWriP events & activities
  • Experience with professional development activities beyond SCWriP
