Position overview

Salary range: See Table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $66,259 - $106,326 (Salary Point 1-17).
Percent time: Positions may range from 33% to 100% time.
Anticipated start: Fall quarter service date starts September 22nd, 2024 and end December 13th, 2024. Winter quarter service dates start January 6th, 2025 and end March 21st, 2025. Spring quarter service dates start March 31st, 2025 and end June 13th, 2025. Summer sessions A and B vary.
Review timeline: This application review and hiring process encompasses department needs throughout the year. Multiple Lecturers may be hired from this recruitment.

Position description

The Department of Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a pool of qualified Lecturers to teach courses in Political Science for upcoming openings. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed with the possibility of future reappointment based on performance and department need.. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department. Positions may range from 33% to 100% time.

The part time position(s) are for one or more courses in the subfields of American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, and Quantitative Methods.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The minimum requirement to be considered an applicant is the completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. except the dissertation (ABD status) in Political Science or a closely related field, at the time of application. A minimum of one year teaching experience at the University or college level is required.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

PhD must be completed by start date of appointment.
