Position description
We seek a trained archaeobotanist with experience in the Americas to contribute to an interdisciplinary project funded by NSF DISES to track the movement of maize and people through time across Mesoamerica using a coevolutionary perspective. The postdoctoral scholar will collate existing archaeological data regarding the appearance and intensification of maize across Mesoamerica, including archaeobotanical, isotopic, and ground stone evidence from 10 broad regions. Fluency in Spanish is required in order to access Spanish-language reports/publications and to communicate with colleagues in relevant countries. Interrelational database design and maintenance is desired but not required. The successful applicant will collaborate on publications and lead at least one publication, in addition to participating in regular research team meetings.

Qualifications
- To apply for this position, Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation in PhD in Anthropology or Archaeology at the time of application.
- PhD in Anthropology or Archaeology
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Experience designing/maintaining interrelational database
- Applicants should have experience analyzing archaeobotanical data from the Americas
- Applicants should have publications demonstrating knowledge of the Americas and archaeobotanical methods
