Position description
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking a qualified individual for an open, part-time (5-10%) position with an anticipated start date in January 2026, or later. The position will possibly be intermittent with breaks in service due to the nature of work and/or funding availability.
The Associate Specialist will report to Professor Palmstrom. They will be primarily responsible for research specialization on enhancing the mobility of semiconductor two-dimensional electron gases and the measurement of quantum interference effects, for the development and fabrication of novel superconductor-semiconductor heterojunctions. The Associate Specialist will be performing test structure fabrication using the UCSB nanofabrication facility and perform cryogenic magnetotransport measurements in the Palmstrom laboratory. The Associate Specialist will also be working with graduate students and postdocs in developing optimum materials heterostructures.
Qualifications
Must have a Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Communications, or related field at the time of application.
The lab (PI: Palmstrom) is looking for an individual who has experience in superconductor-semiconductor heterostructures. Specifically, we are looking for an individual with existing expertise in cryogenic temperature magnetotransport measurements, test structure fabrication and device physics. Candidates must be able to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
