Position description
The Past and Future Climates Group at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in regional ocean modeling, with a focus on isotope-enabled simulations of the tropical Pacific using the Regional Ocean Modeling System (isoROMS). The candidate will lead the configuration and generation of isoROMS simulations, to advance understanding of the oxygen isotopic expression of tropical Pacific climate variability including the El Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO). This will inform the interpretation of existing modern observational and coral paleoclimate-based estimates of oxygen isotopic variability, and improve estimates of past ENSO variations.
The candidate will join the dynamic and interdisciplinary research community in the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. The position also includes close collaboration with colleagues at Brown University and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Qualifications
Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (Or equivalent international degree) in physical oceanography, climate science, atmospheric science, or related discipline, except the dissertation, at the time of application.
-A PhD (Or equivalent international degree) in physical oceanography, climate science, atmospheric science, or related discipline is required by time of appointment
