Position description

The Department of Theater and Dance at the University of
California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a qualified lecturer to
teach Introduction to Stage Management during the 2026–2027 Academic Year. This undergraduate course explores the foundational duties and responsibilities of a stage manager, with instruction focused on practices across pre-production,
rehearsals, performance runs, and post-production processes. Areas of expertise may include production paperwork and organization, rehearsal and performance coordination, communication and leadership within creative teams, and show calling.

Work will be in person on the UCSB campus. Reimbursement for travel and housing expenses will not be provided. Information about the UCSB Department of Theater and Dance is available through the Department's Website]

Salary is standard, based on the UC’s salary scales and depends on qualifications.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

MFA in Theater, or a minimum of 5 years of professional experience as either a stage manager or college / university teacher of stage management.

Preferred qualifications

Actors' Equity Membership for Stage Management, LORT experience
